The village of Holybourne Hampshire, population only 1500, boasts many attractions, a theatre, 2 pubs, a post office and village shop, a cricket club and the 12th century church, so why not make our BandB an ideal base to visit friends or explore.
Vindomis, now Holybourne and Neatham, was a 4th century Roman posting station believed to have been sited at the intersection of two roads from Winchester to London, and Silchester to Chichester. Evidence has previously been found of a flint bath house, post holes, ovens, wells, pits, bronze smelting works and cremation burials.
It is believed that the name Holybourne, comes from the fact that a fresh water spring or bourne, starts almost opposite the west door of the 12 century church, thus the Holy - bourne, though this has now been culvered to the village pond nearby the church, which then joins the river Wey within the bed and breakfast grounds.
The accommodation forms part of the farm element of Upper Neatham Mill, one of many mills sited along the river wey, with reference given to it within the domesday book of 1086.
